Annual Graduation
EFI’s Graduation is a heartfelt gathering that brings together families of participants, alumni, and partners to celebrate the end of each 9-month journey. It is a moment carved out to recognise the courage it takes for families to set aspirations, work towards them, and show up for themselves and support one another.
The purpose of the graduation is to honour each family’s progress in the goals set as well as the learnings gleaned from the connections made in the programme. Moreover, it is to affirm the belief that families are capable of driving change in their own lives when they are supported by trust, community and opportunity.
Monthly Peer Support Circles
The Monthly Peer Support Circles are the heartbeat of the EFI. These circles create a safe space for families to check in, reflect, and support one another as they work toward their aspirations. Each session is shaped by participants, in that, they decide when and where to meet and how they would want discuss that would ultimately help them to achieve their goals. These Circles also give families a chance to practise new skills, celebrate small wins, and ask for help.
Our EFI Alumni often return as co-facilitators, strengthening the “by community, with community” spirit that EFI is built on. What stays constant is the sense of trust and solidarity that grows when families share honestly and listen to one another.
L.E.A.P
LEAP (Learning with EFI and Act to Proliferate) is a convening of people who care about empowering lower-income families, from beneficiary-advocates and social service professionals to researchers, funders and community champions. These sessions create a space for shared learning, honest conversations and cross-sector connection, with families’ lived experiences placed at the centre.
Each gathering focuses on practical insights, innovative approaches and community-led strategies that have supported families in their journey toward stability and mobility. Participants leave with fresh perspectives, new relationships and actionable ideas they can carry back into their organisations, helping to grow a wider ecosystem committed to human-centred, strengths-based change.
Workshops
EFI workshops are practical, hands-on sessions designed to help families build the skills they need to move toward long-term stability and confidence. Each workshop focuses on areas that participants themselves say matter most, from managing money and reducing debt, to the know-hows of marketing home-based business products.
What makes EFI workshops unique is the way they are shaped with families instead of for them. Industry partners guide the learning, but families bring their own experiences, ask questions, and contribute ideas that make every session relevant and grounded in real life.
